Breathedge 2

First chapter

The Outskirts in Breathedge 2

The Outskirts is the official name of the Early Access opening area. RedRuins trailer copy and the Outskirts soundtrack both use that title. Steam’s Early Access FAQ calls the shipped slice the first major story chapter plus a large area with survival, open-space exploration, gathering, crafting, upgrades, repairs, combat, main and side quests, NPCs and optional junk. It is a first-hour briefing, not a coordinate dump or a 100% walkthrough. The EVA still on this page is the same official open-space photograph used on home, cropped as a visor, not as a marketing banner. Steam also frames exploration as abandoned stations, ruined settlements, shipwrecks, crew and fringe settlements. That is the scenery around The Outskirts, still without coordinates. Start here after you read the home visor, then keep the six O₂ steps on this page checked as you confirm them in play. Depot is only a one-minute Location clip title, so do not treat it as a map pin while you learn the visor.

VGTimes later headings name air-source routes Steam does not; those names stay folded on the oxygen disclosure, not as Outskirts station ids.

First hour in The Outskirts

You EVA among ice-blue wreckage with orange gloves in frame and a Cosmostation Terminal ahead. The still is first-person, not a loading-screen painting, which is why this page keeps it in a visor viewport instead of a banner. Oxygen and temperature sit on that glass because Steam lists both as lethal open-space details. If the visor goes quiet, the adventure ends prematurely.

A one-minute official clip is titled Location: Depot. Treat Depot as a named place in a video title, not as a pin on a public map. No POI list, loot table or fast-travel graph was published with the launch. Walk the wreckage, scavenge, and keep a route back to air. Side quests exist according to the FAQ; their names are not first-party slugs, so they stay off this URL.

Optional junk and optional locations are in the FAQ on purpose: not every wreck is a required beat. Main and side quests exist; their titles are unpublished. If a walkthrough names a quest you cannot find on Steam, it is not a slug on this wiki. Depot remains a one-minute clip, useful as flavor, useless as GPS. The Cosmostation Terminal in the EVA still is scenery in frame, not a published fast-travel node.

First-person EVA among blue organic masses, rocks, a Cosmostation Terminal and a pipe tool, with another suited figure ahead.

The Next Fest demo was rebuilt

A free Steam Next Fest 2025 demo shipped as app 3499150. Player feedback after that event shows up in the 27 March 2025 Demo Results post. Then the 3 April 2026 Announcement and Changes post says the studio threw the well-received demo out and rebuilt from scratch. Almost nothing from the demo is staying. On 1 September 2026 the demo appdetails endpoint returned success=false.

Stale guides that still screenshot the 2025 layout are historical. The June 2026 Early Access window post repeats that demo systems were largely discarded and that the first post-EA update was already in progress. Use this page for the shipped chapter. Use News for the dated posts. Do not merge demo footage into a fake current map.

The demo teaser from 30 December 2024 and the Demo! post from 20 February 2025 are historical rows on the news timeline. They are not install links. App 3499150 returning success=false is the store API’s way of saying the demo is gone. Rebuild means systems, not just lighting.

Six first-hour O₂ steps

The six sealed survival records are oxygen, temperature, scavenging, blueprints and crafting, combat, and repairs. They are the first-hour loop Steam actually names, not a quest tracker with invented checkboxes. Mark them as you confirm each one in play. The gauge stores locally as be2-outskirts-checklist so a reload keeps the visor pips.

Oxygen and temperature are the fail states. Scavenging is how you feed crafting. Blueprints unlock tools and spacesuit upgrades. Combat is occasional: fight, run, or shove. Repairs sit next to crafting in the EA FAQ; crowbar-timing is community-only and stays off this list. The oxygen page expands the same six records with the official sentence first.

The six ids are oxygen, temperature, scavenge, crafting, combat, repairs — the same ids on the oxygen page. Pressing a step sets aria-pressed and writes localStorage. Progress reads n/6. Reloading this page or the oxygen page should keep the same pips. That is the visor gauge, not a quest plugin.

What not to copy from demo guides

VGTimes published a walkthrough after launch. Its later headings name story beats and oxygen-source routes that Steam does not. Those names are community-derived. This wiki will not clone that article into eleven mid-game URLs. If a community name helps you not die, it belongs inside a disclosure on the oxygen page, not as a slug.

The competitor wiki mill also spawned should-I-buy and meme-game pages. They do not correspond to unique first-party facts. The Outskirts URL covers the opening chapter, the Depot clip, and the demo rebuild. Everything else either has its own route (crew, Coffinbots, shuttle) or waits for a first-party name.

PCGamingWiki at capture was a stub payload, not a full route index, so it is not a walkthrough source either. Bleeding Cool and IGN confirm the Early Access date as editorial echoes of Steam, not extra maps. Stay on the visor still, the Depot clip, and the rebuild warning.
